My name is Jayde Kienbaum and I created original art. My artwork is titled Dancing in the City, and it shows a dancer using a scorpion with no hands with New York City in the background. First I drew the dancer with pencil, sharpie and colored pencil. I used lines the most in this artwork. I used lines in her legs to show how they curve up and over her head, also for her hair I used heavy short strokes to make her bun more detailed and realistic. Then I created the ground below her with grass and I colored it green. Then I did a river in front of the city separating the dancer from the city, and I blended different blues together and I made the waves stick out more by shading them dark then going softer as I got out into the river (value). Next I created buildings in the background with a road going past the buildings. I learned how to curve my lines and how to shape my lines to create an object. I challenged myself by the lines in the river, also by the value in the waves. I chose to make this because I love dance and I like how there's a big open city in the backround, and I like big city’s. So I think it went good with the dancer, because it shows that she’s part of the community but yet she’s not because she’s across the river.
